A Tulsa company, Frost Biometrics, has developed a portable handgun safe that can only by opened by identifying a fingerprint.

The safe can store store information on as many as fingerprints and has a backup key just in case.

Smart Safe creator Brad Frost hopes the safe will give gun owners a technological solution to owning and storing a gun safely.

Frost Biomterics President said "We feel that there are a lot of people that have handguns that don't store them properly for fear of losing their safe key or pin number."

Meanwhile, Lt. Governor Mary Fallin helped launch Project Safe Home today.

As part of the program, Tulsa police will distribute five-thousand free gun locks this Saturday from 10 a-m to 2 p-m at five local Braums stores.
