While some girls will be going to workplaces for Take Our Daughters to Work Day on April 27, others will be going online. Girlstart, a nonprofit organization promoting science and technology skills for girls 9 to 15, will offer a virtual version. Live chats and other activities are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Check it out at www.girlstart.org.

TEEN BEAUTY

The authors of I Am Beautiful: A Celebration of Women are seeking contributions on beauty from teenage girls for a second book.

Girls are asked to write in 200 words or less their creative and thoughtful answers to questions such as: What makes you beautiful? How do your favorite magazines, TV shows and movies make you feel about your beauty?

Entries must be submitted through www.iambeautiful.com by Sept. 30; name, age, address and phone are required; photos, poems and artwork may be included.
