STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) -- A Stroud man is being held without bond in last week's shooting death of Roy Edmond Kifer outside a residence in Cushing.
Marquis David Lams, 27, surrendered to authorities Tuesday, a day after an arrest warrant was issued for him in the March 16 death of the 43-year-old Stillwater man.
Police said in an affidavit that Sharon Davidson told them Lams asked her for money she owed him and became upset when she said she didn't have it. Kifer walked up to the travel trailer where she was and Lams and Kifer argued.
Davidson said she heard Lams ask Kifer if he was an undercover officer and Kifer say he wasn't. She said Kifer turned to walk away. She looked away but hear gunshots and saw Lams run and Kifer on the ground.
Kifer was shot in the back. Cushing police Chief Leon Rippee said drugs may have been a factor in the shooting.
The case has been put on the preliminary hearing docket for April 10.
