Broken Arrow police are looking for clues in the abduction and rape of a 15 year-old girl near the city's high school Tuesday. The rape victim is a 15-year-old North Intermediate High school student who was abducted as she walked from school. Police say the girl did not know her abductor, and he did not show her a weapon. "It was our understanding that she was not lured," said Broken Arrow Police sergeant Heath Arning, Broken Arrow. "She was grabbed and pulled in the vehicle."
The abduction happened in the residential area behind the high school around 3:00 PM. Police say it's unusual for someone to risk an abduction in broad daylight in such a high traffic area, and that may provide clues about the suspect. "An attack that would take place at that time of day speaks for the nature of the person we may be dealing with," Arning noted. "It is quite bold and not as rare - it may be a predator-type person."
After abducting the victim near the high school, the man drove her to another location and raped her. Then he let her go in a rural area, where she ran to a house for help. "We do have individuals who helped this young lady," Arning said. "They were citizens who provided assistance to her. She was found without clothes in an area east of Broken Arrow in Wagoner County."
Police have only a vague description of the suspect. He is described as a man in his late 20's with blond hair. He drove an 80's or 90's model red pickup with black interior.
Police hope anyone who may have seen something along south Fifth Street in Broken Arrow will come forward. If you have any information that might help police in this case, please call the Broken Arrow Police Department at 259 - 8400.
