(AP) -- Marcus Fizer, the powerful Iowa State center who has led the Cyclones into a tie for first in the Big 12,was named the league's player of the week Monday after he made nearly 77 percent of his shots in two games. Bernard King of Texas A&M was named rookie of the week after setting a Big 12 single-game scoring record for a freshman with 34 points.

Fizer shot 76.9 per cent from the field and had 28 points in a 72-62 win at Missouri for the Cyclones, who are 9-1 in the league and tied with Oklahoma State in the race for the conference's regular-season title. The surprising Cyclones are 21-3 overall.

Fizer, the Big 12's scoring leader, had 23 points in a win at Nebraska while making 9-of-10 shots from the field. Fizer also had 12 rebounds against Missouri for his sixth double-double of the season.
