TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- An investigation into a suspect's claims that money was stolen from him resulted in the firing of a Tulsa police officer. Officer Brian C. Wilson, 29, was fired Thursday. He is accused of stealing $300 from the property of a man who was arrested Nov.28.
The man reported the money missing from his personal effects that had been confiscated when he was taken to the Tulsa Jail, Sgt. Wayne Allen said. After an arrest is made, officers must inventory and check in as evidence all belongings confiscated from a prisoner. Allen said Wilson, who has been with the department four years, also is accused of lying about the theft to internal investigators. Criminal charges against Wilson are not likely, Allen said.
