(Fort Worth, Texas-AP) -- American Airlines passengers will soon be flying the roomier skies. One common complaint from air travelers has been that planes have gotten too crowded. So, the nation's second-largest airline says it will give its customers more legroom -- by removing at least two and possibly up to four rows of seats from all the jets in its fleet.

The carrier says it will be able to increase the space between rows four to six inches. Airline expert Terry Trippler with One travel.com says it will feel more like being in a Cadillac than a V-W bug. While increasing legroom, American's plan will reduce the number of seats that can be sold on each flight. U-S Airways and United Airlines both have removed seats from their planes, with mixed success.
