The snow stranded some unexpected guests in Tulsa Thursday. About 25 people were stranded in the downtown Greyhound bus station when highways became stuck Thursday night.

Inside the station, it looked like some sort of military organization had set up for a campaign. Outside, the salt and sand trucks tried their best to help, but it still wasn't safe enough for the buses to continue. “I don't like the snow,” said Billy, a Greyhound passenger. “I want to get back home before it starts snowing again."

Billy wanted to get back to New Mexico. Others would rather have been in Oregon, Louisiana and Kingston, Oklahoma. Instead, the bad weather trapped the group of passengers in the downtown bus station for 24 hours. “I've been here before and every time I come through Tulsa, it seems like I get stuck," said passenger Jeanine Calls.

A Greyhound spokesperson said the company usually reroutes passengers around the storm, but Thursday night there was no safe alternate. Greyhound also gave out food vouchers to the stranded passengers and even offered them free trips back home for the delay. The Red Cross stopped by the station to help out the stranded group. A passenger from Minnesota, Art Chuh, regretted his decision to take the bus. “I should have drove,” he said. “I would have been there a lot sooner. I'm used to driving in this kind of stuff. This is nothing.”

When passengers finally loaded their bus to leave, they waved at Tulsa’s downtown buildings saying “Bye, bye, Tulsa.” But it was a farewell bid too soon. Their bus sat idle next to the station for another 30 minutes.
