JENKS, Okla. (AP) -- A Jenks middle school teacher accused of making a lewd proposal to a student quit Thursday. James Clifton Williams, 51, resigned before the school board could review a recommendation to dismiss him. The board voted unanimously to accept his resignation.
Williams is charged with a felony count of lewd proposal to a minor and a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia. According to police reports, Williams admitted to having phone sex with a 14-year-old female student. He was arrested in November. Williams also was the cross country coach at Jenks East Middle.
