McALESTER, Okla. (AP) -- Arraignment is set Jan. 12 for an Oklahoma State Penitentiary inmate accused of emasculating a convicted sex offender from Minnesota. James Todd Frosig, 26, is accused of two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
The attacked inmate remains comatose, according to prosecutors. Frosig is accused of knocking OSP inmate John Henry Brown, 52, to the floor of the cell the two shared, kicking Brown in the head and using a razor to cut off his penis on Sept. 3.
Brown, serving six sentences for sex crimes involving children in Minnesota, had been brought to Oklahoma because of a concern for his safety in the Minnesota prison system, according to Oklahoma Department of Corrections spokesperson Jerry Massie. He has since returned to Minnesota.
Brown and Frosig had been cellmates for two days at the time of the attack, Massie said. Frosig is serving a 10-year sentence for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in Oklahoma County and had come to OSP in 1995, said warden's assistant Lee Mann. He is also serving two concurrent 10-year sentences for burglary and concealing stolen property, Mann said.
