A 25-year-old mother faces murder charges for the death of her 2-year-old son.

Maria Rio brought her son to the hospital Tuesday night with injuries to his head. But Tulsa Police say her story of what happened doesn't match the nature of the child's injuries. TPD detective Chris Witt says, "at that time she gave an explanation as to how the injuries occurred which were not consistent to the injuries seen by the doctors." Police say Rios was arrested on a complaint of injury to a minor child. The child died Thursday evening.

Police say Rios will be charged with first degree murder on Monday. Her two other children are in DHS custody.
