(Dallas-AP) -- A field test may settle the question of whether federal authorities fired shots at the Branch Davidian compound. Three weeks of negotiation led to the decision regarding the April 1993 standoff. The negotiations involved senior Justice Department officials and F-B-I officials.
The Dallas Morning News says the decision was reported in a letter yesterday from Deputy Waco Special Counsel Edward L- Dowd Junior to a federal court in Waco. Dowd says in the letter that they believe the agreed upon format could result in significant information related to the question of whether there was gunfire emanating from government positions on April 19th, 1993.
Lead lawyer for the Davidians Mike Caddell says the tes toutlined in the general Counsel's letter is everything the plaintiffs wanted. Caddell says it should answer once and for all whether there was government gunfire on April 19th.
