(Peabody, Massachusetts-AP) -- A seven-year-old Massachusetts girl went home and slept with her dead mother after a teacher
apparently ignored the child's claims that her mom had died.

The child's grandfather told a local T-V station that the girl's teacher told her that she "shouldn't talk like that."

The child returned home on the school bus. Richard Tucker says his granddaughter curled up on her mom's lap and went to sleep
overnight.

Tucker discovered the body the next day when he visited the home.

A police sergeant tells an area newspaper that the child's mother had diabetes and probably died of natural causes.

The schools superintendent has released a statement saying the school made a mistake.
