The search for an abandoned baby's mother is over. Police are now sorting through conflicting stories to determine if a crime was committed. Jenks police officers took care of little Cory for a few hours Friday afternoon the state is now taking care of him. They picked up Cory from Suzanne Bowman. She was confused about where Cory was supposed to be. Bowman says Cory's mother was trying to drop the two-month old off at her neighbors house. They weren't home, so she said she would take care of him.

"They'll get home sooner or later and I don't mind taking care of the baby. He was so cute. I couldn't resist," says Bowman.

Soon after, her neighbor, Eugene Murlock came home.

"I said I had his great grandchild in our house. I said his name is Cory. And he said Cory is 25 years old, he can't be at your house. And I said, I have Cory the two month old in my house. And he said, Oh no I don't have that," says Murlock.

Mr. Murlock also told police he didn't have a great-grand baby, but he helped them find Cory's mom because she was calling him. She claims the father, Cory Murlock, lives with his grandparents.

"I called his dad all night, called the grandparents all night. No one returned my calls," says Decquience Jones, cory's mother.

Jones says she made plans for Cory to spend time with his father. She regrets dropping the infant off.

"I'm just thinking it's a nice neighborhood," says Jones. Leaving a child over their was very unintelligible on my part. But, I totally thought he was safe. I didn't mean any harm.”

Jenks detectives are trying to gather Cory's full story because different tales are being told. They say at this point, they are unsure if the mother committed a crime.

"It possibly could be. It depends on her motives in dropping the child off and that's what we are investigating right now," says Detective Don Selle, Jenks PD.

And police say the troubling part of this case is the victim in all this, is 2 month old Cory. Investigators are still waiting to talk to the man who Jones claims is the father. Investigators say it will take them about a week to turn over their findings to the state. From what they could tell, the baby was in great condition.DHS will decide what happens to Cory next.
