Oklahoma City bombing survivors and members of victims' families are expressing shock at comments by Timothy McVeigh's mother that it is time to get over the bombing. "This happened four-and-a-half years ago, said Noreen "Mickey" Hill. “Let's get it out of our minds. Let's get it out of our lives."
Mrs. Hill, who lives in Pensacola talked to a Florida television station. She said her son is not the monster he has been portrayed to be. Hill still finds it hard to believe he masterminded the bombing. Attorney Stephen Jones, McVeigh's chief defender at his Federal trial in Denver, described Mrs. Hill's comments as "an unfortunate statement." He also says Mrs. Hill has a history of emotional problems.
