Milwaukee police are looking for a Louisiana woman suspected of feeding gin to a baby to make the infant go to sleep.
Authorities say 19-year-old Tasha Cavalier fled to Milwaukee last weekend as police in St. Francisville, Louisiana, were about to arrest her.
The one-year-old baby was hospitalized last Friday in "extremely critical condition" after she went into convulsions. Officials say she's still hospitalized, but is expected to recover.
The child had a blood-alcohol level of point-113 percent after being admitted to the hospital. In Louisiana, motorists are considered intoxicated when they have blood-alcohol levels of point-one percent or greater.
Cavalier, who had been caring for the baby for about a month, is wanted on charges of attempted negligent homicide and juvenile cruelty. A doctor told police that the baby had ingested about two tablespoons of gin.
