Bill Goldberg, the professional wrestler who hails from Edison High in Tulsa says he's a big tough guy. But he told a Capitol Hill news conference today he can't look at the pictures of roosters, dogs and cats that are abused worldwide. Goldberg is supporting two proposals that aim to stamp out cockfighting and the sale of the fur of dogs and cats.

Goldberg is pushing for legislation ending the sale of fighting birds. The Humane Society also alleges the fur of dogs and cats ends up in coats sold in the U-S. "We don't want a Cruella Deville situation where dogs are turned into fur coats," says Goldberg.

As for animal fighting, it's against state law in 47 of the 50 states. But cockfighting still is allowed in Oklahoma, Goldberg's birthplace. "It is embarrassing for me because I'm here giving my heart and soul and the state in which I was born is one of the three that hasn't passed the law yet," he said.

If Goldberg has his way, it won't be long until cockfighting in Oklahoma finds itself down for the count. The other two states where cockfighting is still legal are Louisiana and New Mexico.
