Tulsa's city council is one step closer to approving an ordinance requiring all nightclub bouncers to be certified and licensed.
The ordinance is a result of Scott Bolton's death last fall. No one has been arrested or charged. But Tulsa Police say a bouncer followed Bolton out of a downtown nightclub and punched him. Bolton fell and hit his head, he later died.
People who work as bouncers and security guards have differing opinions about the proposed ordinance. Kyle Kaltenbach, who is a licensed security guard: "Overall, I think will be a major improvement and benefit everybody. It'll be safer and more professional and make people happy because they have a secure feeling."
An unlicensed bouncer, Bryan LaNear: "First thing that's going to happen is your going to lose half your bouncers, period. Most people can't afford to go through all the things CLEET demands."
Final approval of the ordinance won't happen for a couple of months.
