A construction project at a busy intersection in southeast Tulsa is wrapping up ahead of schedule.
Crews have been widening the 61st and Garnett intersection for more than five months. Now the project is finished. The upgrade includes two lanes in each direction, plus turn lanes.
The $2.5-million project is paid for with Vision 2025 funds. Tulsa resident Brittany Creager: "I just can't wait until it is done. So we can drive straight home and straight to school and don't have to worry about no cars."
The project was finished two weeks before its deadline. That earned the construction company a bonus of $4,000 a day for each day they were ahead of schedule.
