OKLAHOMA CITY (AP)-- Congressman Tom Cole says Iraqi insurgents are losing ground despite reports of violence and resistance to the presence of US troops.
Cole led a delegation of five Congress members on a post-election trip to Iraq. Second District Congressman Dan Boren was also a part of the group.
After a day in Jordan, two days in Iraq, and a day in Germany, Cole said he's more optimistic than during previous trips.
Cole says tens of thousands of Iraqi police are joining forces with American troops, and morale has been up since the elections in January.
He also says progress being made in Iraq may lead to the return of many American troops before and after elections in December for a permanent government.
