OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A Missouri-based group is donating $50,000 to help feed hungry children in Oklahoma.
The money donated by Sisters of Mercy will be used to provide backpacks of food each week to about 1,700 children in 45 schools across the state.
Mercy and the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma will target low-income schools and provide backpacks for children to use each Friday to take the food home. The backpacks will be packed with items such as peanut butter, juice boxes, cereal bars and fruit cups.
