Clean water for tsunami victims

STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) -- Two Stillwater brothers have an invention that brings clean water to tsunami victims.

Ben and Joe Banks have been tinkering with a compact filter that can transform dirty water to clean water in less than a minute.

The brothers have donated five of their water filters to Faith Medical Missions, a Christian group leaves for Thailand.

The team will set up temporary medical stations at five locations in six days.

18-year-old Ben and 15-year-old Joe say their engineer father gave them the original idea for the filter a few years ago.

The teens have been building the filters by hand for about a month. So far they've built about 100 filters.

The filter can be "back flushed" and clean itself. Each filter can process about 20,000 gallons of water between cleanings.

The brothers are looking for a manufacturer to mass-produce their filters.
