HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) _ Residents in McCurtain County in southeast Oklahoma shouldn't be alarmed if they see flames or smoke rising from the Ouchita National Forest Saturday.

The US Forest Service is conducting a prescribed burn on about 700 acres there until about 6 PM.

The prescribed fire is one of several the Forest Service is planning in the Ouchita and Ozark-St. Francis national forests. The fires are intentionally set to burn underbrush and fallen leaves to help reduce the possibility of future wild fires.
