KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ Kansas forward Wayne Simien Monday was named the Big 12 Conference Player of the Week for the third time this season after one of the most important games of the K-U schedule.
Simien averaged 24 points and nine rebounds in the Jayhawks' last two games and had a career-high 32 points to go with 12 rebounds yesterday as the Jayhawks beat Oklahoma State 81-to-79 and took over the league lead.
Rookie of the Week honors go to Nebraska center Aleks Maric, who helped the Cornhuskers to a 74-to-67 upset of Oklahoma State and a 76-to-69 road win at Iowa State.
