OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The Oklahoma Department of Labor and the state's Career Tech system are teaming up to promote safety in the workplace.
Labor Commissioner Brenda Renau and CareerTech Director Phil Berkenbile made the announcement yesterday.
Governor Brad Henry says the partnership is an important one to Oklahoma's workforce.
Enhanced workplace safety programs by the two agencies is a component of Henry's proposed workers' comp reform plan.
After steady improvements over 10 years, Oklahoma's workplace injury and illness data is at the national average for the first time in history.
CareerTech coordinators train workers and business owners in safe work practices, while Labor Department consultants provide free assessments to qualified businesses.
