EDMOND, Okla. (AP) _ The American Red Cross of Central Oklahoma will get more than $4,300 Thursday for its tsunami relief effort thanks to students at an Edmond elementary school.

Students at Cross Timbers Elementary began dropping their spare change into empty water coolers set up by the school's Parent Teacher Organization on January 31st.

A local banker counted the coins at no charge and the students chose the Red Cross because it has a local chapter.

School Principal Cathey Bugg says the PTO suggested students raise money after former Presidents Clinton and Bush called on Americans to help survivors of the December 26th tsunami in Asia. Bugg says one student even persuaded his parents to match the money he donated from his allowance.
