OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Governor Henry promises state workers that a $700 pay raise they were promised last year will be in their pay checks by July.
Henry appeared Monday before more than 100 members of the state workers union who rallied at the state Capitol for better retirement benefits and working conditions.
State workers received a $1,400 raise last month -- their first raise in four years. The raise was approved by lawmakers last year. An additional $700 raise was also authorized, effective July 1st.
Leaders of the state House and Senate expressed support for state workers' other goals, including cost-of-living adjustments for retirees and better worker safety and education.
