MIDWEST CITY, Okla. (AP) _ A Norman sixth-grader is the grand prize winner of the 15th annual Oklahoma Student Invention Exposition at Rose State College.

12-year-old Alexis Schaef of Alcott Middle School won for developing a Christmas tree ornament that's also a smoke detector. She wins a $120 first prize for the invention.

More than 200 students from across the state competed in the event in Midwest City.
