PAWHUSKA, Okla. (AP) -- An Osage County man accused of killing his wife after a Super Bowl party last year is pleading guilty to a manslaughter charge.
Jerald Harvel was initially charged with first-degree murder in the death of Karen Harvel, but the charge was reduced to first-degree manslaughter as part of a plea agreement.
Prosecutors say detectives at first thought Harvel killed his wife during an argument after they returned home following the party. Investigators now say they believe Harvel was drunk and handling a gun when he shot his wife.
