OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ State Democratic Party Chairman Jay Parmley says he won't run for re-election to a third term as head of the party.
Parmley has drawn criticism recently for endorsing former presidential candidate Howard Dean to lead the Democratic National Committee, but he says the criticism is not why he's stepping down.
Parmley says the issue is time and effort and he just doesn't have it to lead the party for another term.
He will continue as chairman until the Oklahoma Democratic Party convention begins May 14th.
The 33-year-old Parmley was the youngest state Democratic Party chairman when he was elected in 2001.
