Some Green Country doctors return from a mission of mercy. The doctors from the Christian medical group "In His Image" are back in Tulsa after spending more than two weeks helping victims in the path of the deadly tsunami.
News on 6 anchor Terry Hood explains how those doctors say the trip changed their lives.
The team of 11 said they knew there would be a need for their help in Banda Aceh, where the hospital was destroyed by the tsunami and more than 200 nurses are still missing. They worked out of makeshift clinics in tents and in refugee camps for those who lost their homes.
They were warned that Americans wouldn't be well-received, but the team found victims were grateful for all the help they could get. Medical missionary Dr Mitch Duininck: "It was for us a real testimony to see how the love of God can go across cultural barriers, across ethnic barriers, across political barriers."
The team slept on the floor of a rental house while they were there. Before they left, they built new shelves and cabinets for the next group of relief workers who are now living in the house.
