OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A state prison official says the Department of Corrections won't be able to make its payroll in May unless the state provides an additional $18-million.
Deputy Director Ed Evans says the department could run out of money near the end of the fiscal year on June 30th if the budget isn't increased.
DOC Director Ron Ward says short-term layoffs are not an answer to the budget shortfall. He says one furlough day for employees would save about $600,000.
