The Susan G Komen Foundation awarded grants to three Tulsa non profit organizations Thursday.

"Indian Health Care", "Project Woman", and the "Y-Me Foundation" each received a check to help pay for more breast cancer screening, education and support. Most of the money comes from Tulsa's "Race for the Cure".

Karl Ahlgren with Race For The Cure: "We're giving out about $3,000 dollars in awards today. Which is about a 20% increase from what we did last year and in today's economy. We just feel like that's a grand slam.”

Experts say 1,600 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in Tulsa County this year.
