About 500 Oklahoma volunteers from the Southern Baptist Disaster relief group are getting ready to head to South Asia. Among the group will be grief counselors and doctors.
They'll also take saltwater filtration systems to help clean the water. The team is no stranger to disasters, the members responded following the 9-11 attacks and most recently the Florida hurricanes.
Sam Porter with Southern Baptist Disaster Relief: "it's really important for people to know they're not going through it alone. And this has been a global impact."
The Southern Baptist Disaster relief group plans to leave for Asia this week.
