Most Americans are consumed with shopping this time of year, but one very thankful man is enjoying the best holiday present ever, the gift of life.

On October 25th, 47-year-old Mark Hotfelt’s heart stopped while he was at work. Several of his quick-thinking co-workers sprung into action and saved his life by giving him CPR until paramedics arrived.

Monday, two of those men, Ed Broderick and Chris Couffer were honored with the EMSA Community Spirit Award.

Hotfelt underwent procedures to open blocked arteries and returned to work late last month.
