OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The State Fair Park would become the premier horse show venue in the country with the money from a proposed hotel tax increase.

The tax would increase from 2% to 5.5% if voters approve the proposal December 14th.

The increase would generate an estimated $4.5-million a year.

Mayor Mick Cornett says the renovations would help the city retain horse shows that bring in more than $180-million dollars.

Cornett says getting to a championship show in Oklahoma City is like getting to the Super Bowl and the city's facilities should reflect that.

Artists' renderings of the proposed renovations show an overhaul of the exterior and interior of the more than 700,000-square-foot complex of barns and arenas on the park's west side.
