Thousands of Oklahoma families will go without turkey this Thanksgiving, but Tulsa's John 3:16 Mission is trying to change that.
They handed out thousands of Thanksgiving baskets Monday to residents struggling to make ends meet. Last year, they handed out 5,000 turkeys in three days.
This year, according to John 3:16 Mission executive director Steve Whitaker: “looks like we'll exceed 2,000 turkeys, meet all families we expect to come next few days."
John 3:16 Mission still needs turkey donations. If you'd like to help out, just take food to the shelter on 506 North Cheyenne or call then at 587-1186.
