With Thanksgiving almost here, fire officials urge folks to be careful if they fry their holiday turkey.

News on 6 anchor Craig Day says the folks at Home Depot say you can still enjoy a fried turkey and be safe while cooking it. They say don't leave the fryer unattended and be cautious. Jason Baker with Home Depot: "Don't be in a hurry. Take your time and just use common sense as far as hot things are concerned."

The experts also say don't use a fryer near a home or building or in a garage.

Also make sure your fryer is setup on a level spot to keep it from tipping over.
