NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- David Boren has raised more than $1-billion during his ten-year tenure as president of the University of Oklahoma.
At a celebration Wednesday former OU Board of Regents chairman GT Blankenship announced that 1.01-billion in gifts and pledges has been received since 1994.
OU has gotten $848-million of that, which has gone to fund faculty endowments, scholarships, new buildings and new programs.
The balance consists of pledges to be paid over the next several years and deferred commitments made by donors who've named the university in their wills or other planned gifts.
Boren said it's difficult to adequately express his gratitude for the way OU's donors continue to support the university and its students.
