OAK BROOK, Ill. (AP) _ Fast-food chain McDonald's Corp. on Monday said sales at McDonald's restaurants open at least a year grew 6.1 percent in October, down from growth of 8.4 percent seen a year ago.
The restaurant's October growth was led by a 7.5 percent gain in U.S. same-store sales _ less than half of the 15.1 percent rise a year earlier. Meanwhile, same-store sales added 2 percent in Europe and 6.1 percent at Asian, Middle Eastern and African locations.
Systemwide sales at all McDonald's restaurants climbed 9.5 percent last month, the company said.
In the year-to-date period, McDonald's said total same-store sales increased 7.4 percent on a 12.5 percent increase in systemwide sales. U.S. same-store sales rose 10.1 percent, European sales gained 2.6 percent and Asian, Middle Eastern and African sales jumped 6.5 percent.
