Making it to the election polls on Tuesday may be the last thing on the minds of hundreds of Muskogee County residents dealing with the aftermath of raging floodwaters late Sunday night and early Monday morning.

Heavy rain left up to 8 inches of standing water in more than a dozen homes. Emergency officials say just about every creek in the county overflowed its banks, washing out roads and bridges, isolating neighborhoods. T

he Clark family spent the day mopping up. Rising water drove them with as many possessions as possible, up to the second story in the middle of the night. Still most of their belongings couldn't be saved. Flood victim Stanley Clark: "This is probably the worst one I've been through; it came in the quickest and got pretty deep."

Most of the water has receded. Muskogee County officials are still tallying the damage cost from this storm and are bracing themselves for another bout of heavy rain later this week.
