TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- The federal trial of a man accused of more than 40 counts of fraud began Monday in U.S. District Court in Tulsa.
Kenneth Sunday Azubuike, 57, was charged in February 2003 with bank fraud, wire fraud, bankruptcy fraud and interstate transportation of stolen property.
An additional indictment was filed last month adding two counts of making false statements to Tulsa banks and new bank fraud charges.
A jury was selected Monday to hear the case.
Azubuike allegedly claimed to be a successful physician and businessman worth millions of dollars when he solicited investors for business ventures. The indictment alleges he caused a loss of more than $1 million dollars.
Azubuike is the father of Kelenna Azubuike, a former basketball star at Victory Christian School in Tulsa who now plays for the University of Kentucky.
