AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- During opening night festivities on November 2nd, Detroit Pistons players and coaches will receive their 2004 NBA Championship rings -- and, for the first time in professional sports history, so will one lucky fan.
In an unprecedented show of appreciation, the Detroit Pistons will award a championship ring to a randomly selected fan, who will represent the millions who supported the team during their championship run last season.
To participate in this unprecedented event, log onto the Detroit Pistons website at http://www.pistons.com, or the Detroit Free Press website at http://www.freep.com or The Detroit News website at http://www.detnews.com and fill out the online entry form anytime from Monday, October 25th at 12:01 a.m. to Monday, November 1st at Noon. Entrants, who must be 18 and older, may also send their name, date of birth, address and phone number to: Pistons Fan Championship Ring, Four Championship Drive, Auburn Hills, MI 48326. Mail entries must be received by Noon on November 1st. See http://www.pistons.com or the newspaper sites for complete rules.
One entry will be chosen at random from all eligible entries and will receive two tickets to the Pistons opener against the Houston Rockets on November 2nd when the ring will be presented by Pistons captains Chauncey Billups and Ben Wallace during the national broadcast.
"This is the first time to our knowledge that a professional sports team has awarded a championship ring as a symbolic thank you to the fans," said Tom Wilson, president and CEO of the Pistons and Palace Sports & Entertainment. "We felt it was a natural thing to do, since our fans are the hardest-working in all of sports, supporting us in league-leading numbers the past two years and creating so much noise and positive energy at The Palace."
