OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A day after a successful private space flight in California, an Oklahoma-based company says it will begin taking reservations for space flights.
Rocket-plane Limited plans to begin taking paying customers into space in February 2007 at a cost of $99,500 per person.
The company is developing a suborbital launch vehicle called Rocketplane X-P that will launch from the Burns Flat Spaceport. The port is on the former Clinton-Sherman Air Force Base in Washita County.
The vehicle will take passengers more than 68 miles above the Earth for three to four minutes of weightlessness.
Monday, SpaceShipOne claimed a $10-million prize by becoming the first private spacecraft to make two flights of at least 62 miles above the Earth.
