The mother charged with slapping a boy on a Broken Arrow school bus in March has her day in court. Carissa Otto appeared in Broken Arrow Municipal Court Thursday morning. She entered a plea of no contest on a charge of assault and battery and has been ordered to pay a fine of $750.
Otto says the boy she’s accused of hitting had punched her 7-year-old son and looked like he was going to punch her older son. That's when she rushed to the back of the bus, and police confirm she then slapped the boy.
According to city ordinance, assault and battery carries a maximum penalty of $750 or imprisonment of no less than five days or more than 60 days, or both.
