OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) -- The United States golf team, captained by Oklahoma State head coach Mike McGraw, has rolled to an 18-6 victory over the European squad to regain the Palmer Cup in Maryland.
The U.S. squad stormed to a 9-3 lead on Thursday and never looked back. McGraw's squad fell behind 3-1 after the morning four-ball matches before sweeping all eight singles matches during the afternoon to build their cushion.
Cowboy sophomore Jonathan Moore teamed with Webb Simpson, falling 1-up to Mark Haastrup and Gordon Yates. However, the Vancouver, Washington, native tallied a point for the team with his 2-1 victory over Gordon Yates.
Yesterday, Moore and Simspon were paired together again and gained redemption against Haastrup and Yates, claiming a 4-3 win during the foursome matches.
