OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- For the fourth straight year, attendance at Remington Park's annual quarter horse race meeting climbed.
However, the track's key wagering numbers were down slightly from 2006, track officials say.
During the track's 50-day meet, 280,275 people attended, an increase of 3.8% over 2006.
The meet's largest crowd of 13,373 attended the races on May 5th, the day the Kentucky Derby was simulcast at the track.
The track says that during the meet's 500 races, 4,473 horses started, an average field size of 8.9 per race. The track distributed almost $8 million in purses.
Remington Park's on-track live handle was a little more than %3.5 million dollars, down 3% from 2006.
Total all sources handle -- which includes handle on imported simulcasting, both at on-track and off-track betting facilities -- dropped by 3.7% to just 35.98 million.
