OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A former Edmond elementary school teacher accused of slapping a special education student on the face has been charged with assault and battery.
A cafeteria worker at Deer Creek Elementary School reported seeing Jessica Renaker of Guthrie slap a 9-year-old student when the child was throwing a tantrum.
Records show Renaker wrote in a statement to investigators that the student threatened her with a plastic knife. However, the cafeteria worker told investigators she saw no knife.
Renaker was a special education teacher at the time of the incident on April 6th. The school district says Renaker no longer works for the school.
