ENID, Okla. (AP) _ High winds tore through Garfield County early Friday, damaging about 100 homes, uprooting trees and knocking out power to thousands of people.
Authorities say nobody was injured.
Garfield County Emergency Manager Mike Honigsberg says about 3,500 homes and businesses were left without electrical service after 80 mile per hour winds raked the area between 1:30 a.m. and 2 a.m.
By 4 p.m., power had been restored to all but about 300 customers.
He says the winds damaged roofs, and in some cases sent trees crashing into homes. He says the preliminary damage estimate was $1.5 million to $2 million.
Late Thursday, a tornado briefly touched down in the Oklahoma Panhandle, causing some damage in the Guymon area. Again, there were no reports of injuries.
