OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ An Oklahoma County jail inmate is dead from injuries suffered after an apparent seizure and an altercation with a group of detention officers.
Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office spokesman Mark Myers says 36-year-old Christopher Beckman died Sunday morning at St. Anthony Hopsital.
Beckman was being taken from his cell to a medical wing on Saturday when Myers says he fell face first to the floor and began convulsing.
When several officers went to his aid, Myers says the man became combative. Beckman suffered several cuts to his face during the incident, which Myers says were likely from thrashing around on the floor.
Myers says two officers were bitten and another suffered a sprained wrist during the incident.
Beckman had been arrested on complaints of driving under the influence, driving under suspension, two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and failure to show insurance.
